How to Survive a New Move

Scene: You’ve just bought a new home (hopefully with Torii ????) or maybe you just signed a new lease. In either case, you show up to the front door brimming with anticipation. All the boring paperwork is over and now the fun begins. You reach into your pocket, retrieve the shiny new key, plunge it exuberantly into the lock, twist the knob, and push open the front door. What do you see? Empty rooms, barren walls, and boxes on the ground.

Moving in can be a very stressful experience. A lot of things have to happen before a new house starts to feel like home. The first few days are particularly deflating as you as you languish in your attempt to create a semi-habitable space without having even the bare necessities on hand. I recently moved into a new apartment and found myself substituting hand soap as shampoo, body wash, and dish soap for an entire week. While its humbling to reuse a plastic fork from the Whole Foods hot bar for every meal, I’m trying to self-actualize and this isn’t the #adulting I’m going for.

Some of you might scoff and decide that I’m lazy for not going to the store. Truth is, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day and/or sometimes the last thing you want to do at the end of a full day of work is go piddle about the endless rows at Target, trying to conceive of everything you need now or might need in the immediate future.

That’s why we came up with the Torii ‘Move-in Survival Kit.’ Originally, the kits were exclusively gifts that we would prepare for each of our buyers at close, but so many people have expressed interest that we decided to start selling them online. If you, a friend, or a family member is making a move, this is an incredible way to make their life much easier.

So what’s in the box?! It’s everything you need to start living in your new home, while you put it all together. Things like coffee, tea, energy bars, detergent, paper towels, soap(s), batteries, picture hanging kits, and more — all in one place, delivered directly to your door.

Even as I’m writing up this post, I keep looking up at the photos of our clients above^ and I’m honestly jealous. Tough for me, but great for you. The ‘Kits’ ($99) are available on our website and we deliver anywhere in the US.

If you know anyone else out there who is making a move, specifically buying a home, send ’em our way. Torii is the best way to buy a home and we’ll save our home buyers money too. Plus, we love making new friends.
